Forgotten Photos Sitting in the Attic

I've been crawling under the eves in the attic searching through boxes of old photos. Many of the photos are ones I remember from years past. But I found a few I've never seen before. Some are labeled, some not. It's been an interesting adventure into family history.

I created this layout with some of the family photos that I found. The background paper , tree and floral elements are from the kit, All Things Grow With Love by Newlife Dreams Design. The antique frame is by Christina Renee from her Authentic Artistry Alphabet collection and the font is Buttons & Patches.

Hanging The Moon

I just purchased two kits from Mary Pop: Sweet Dreams and Magical Moments. I used one of the papers from Sweet Dreams here with some elements from Magical Moments. As soon as I saw the cut out window frame I knew which picture I wanted to use with it. Ethan is our family's little escape artist. From the time he could crawl, he was climbing -- in, out, on top and under. Fortunately he was especially well co-ordinated and is well and whole today. But there were moments when we all wondered. I remember one time, when he was just under two, when I came into the kitchen to find him in the middle of the kitchen table attempting to climb the chandelier. After that all of the kitchen chairs were strapped to the kitchen table for several months so he couldn't use them to climb on things.

Winter Photography

I remember complaining at the beginning of winter, that I didn't have enough snow pictures for my scrapbooking. Last time, I'm ever going to make that complaint. We had an all time record breaking season for snowfall here in southeastern Pennsylvania and my computer is filled with gorgeous snow scenes. This series of pictures was taken by my daughter, Dawn of my grandson with his new puppy. The second I saw these pictures, I knew I had to scrap them. The window frame is by JennU from her Older Windows collection. Background paper and snow are elements I've been working on in my design classes.

Back Again

Well, it's been quite awhile since I posted here. I've become totally addicted to scrapping and have been spending all of my time doing either layouts or designing. Having lots of tine and learning a tremendous amount along the way. The designer course at Hummie's is continuing and I am also taking designer lessons at Amanda Rockwell's, ScrapArtist.com. That plus online tutorials and a new selection of photoshop books that I've purchased have been keeping me busy and inspired. Speaking of inspiration, I picked up the latest copy of Somerset Studios magazine at the bookstore recently. I was so impressed with the quality of their publications. (They have several different ones, including my favorite--the one on digital scrapbooking). The price is a bit steep but the quality is amazing.

I've Been Busy

This blog is looking a bit empty, so I've decided to share some of the scrapbooking projects that I've been working on.

Tyler's Dream

This scrap is made using Lori Davison's Flying Dreams Kit. I've had so much fun with the magical elements that she has created. I could base my next month's scraps just on this kit.

And another one:

This is one of Ethan. Since he was a toddler, Ethan has loved glasses, sunglasses and anything he can look through. I especially love the bottom right photo where he is looking through the wrong end of the binoculars. I wanted to scrap this theme as Ethan has a wonderfully unique and distinctive way of viewing the world and I think this photo layout is symbolic of that. Plus I think he's an adorable kid.

Resources

Creative Techs

This Seattle based company offers free classes in Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Lightroom, Digital Photography and Photo Retouching. Each class lasts around 90 minutes and is filled with fantastic tips and techniques. Absolutely free and there is no attempt to sell you anything or market to you. The company makes its money selling downloads of the classes for those who missed a session or want a permanent copy. The only downside is that the classes are held early afternoon Eastern time in the US and are not convenient for everyone to attend. This gets my gold seal 5 Star Rating.

Hummie's World

If you really want to learn scrapping, this is the place to be. A wealth of great classes, tutorials, challenges and forums. Lots of free information. But if you're serious about learning, sign up for the classes at an amazing low monthly price. Everything from the very basics of getting started to designing. You get support, encouragement, individual attention and proven tips and techniques to bring your scrapping to the next level, or in my case, up many levels. Downside: there's not enough time to take advantage of all that's here. Another gold seal 5 Star Rating.
