I have so many wonderful memories of picking wildflowers as a child: family picnics by a lake or stream with the picnic tables laden with sandwiches, salads and desserts just waiting for the children to return with their just-picked wildflower centerpieces. I don't think I've ever seen an elegant centerpiece that warms my heart the way a handful of wildflowers in a glass calls to my soul.

New Christmas Kit
The designers at Heritage Scrap created a December collaborative of mix and match kits, all created with the same palette. Our theme was Christmas carols and each designer chose a favorite holiday song as a theme. I chose Walking in a Winter Wonderland. I adore winter landscapes and paintings, but I'm not all that fond of winter after spending most of my earlier life living in New England with way too much snow.

Lavender Dreams Kit, Freebie and Birthday Sales
I've always loved aromatherapy and essential oils. The amazing scents, the sensuous feel of the oils on my skin, the unique healing properties of each oil. I actually have my own small distiller and when I'm feeling especially ambitious, I distill some of my own oils and hydrosols (scented waters) that are a by-product of the distilling process from flowers in my garden. I have to confess that I've never done lavender. The few small plants that I have don't produce enough blooms for even a drop of oil! But I love burying my face in the plants and just inhaling.

I love the CT team's creations with this kit. I wonder if they were smelling that delicious lavender scent as they were working. I honestly felt like I could get just a hint of it at times when I was designing.
