The Gilded Theater
A Night at the Theater
I've always loved the beautiful old restored theaters that can be found in different locations throughout the United States. My husband grew up in Erie, PA and we recently visited the beautifully restored Warner Theater there. Filled with velvet, gilt, gold and vintage wallpaper (undoubtedly a reproduction of the original), it is indeed a grand old queen. I've included some of his photos of it below.
So that was my inspiration, although I went back to an earlier era before movies and placed my kit in Victorian times. The kit is designed to do fantasy layouts as well as heritage, vintage and every day ones.
And as always, this new kit is 25% off for its release. Check it out here.

And my favorite part of posts about new kits: showing off the layouts created by the talented StarSongStudio CT team:

Sharing Time
I wanted to share these exquisite layouts done by 3 members of my CT team for the Time for Tea kit that I recently posted on my new Facebook Fan page. Since it was a free kit, I certainly didn't want to ask CT members to work with it. In case you're not familiar with the way most creative teams work, members of the team create layouts in return for the kit. So you can imagine my surprise and delight when these layouts appeared in our Creative Team forum.
Thanks so much, ladies. You know how much I appreciate it. And if you grabbed the Free kit, here's some creative inspiration from 3 very talented women. And if you haven't gotten it yet and are inspired by what you see here, there's a link down below where you can grab it.

Just press "like" and then press on the image to download it.
And make sure to keep watching my FB page. I'll have some surprises coming, including coupons, news of other freebies and a free companion kit that was created with the same palette when my newsletter launches.
We are so enjoying this beautiful spring, very early and very warm and the flowering trees, bushes and spring bulbs are magnificent. Below are a few images that Clemens took outside our front door. Right now he's outside photographing our camellia bush. Several years ago, I attended the Philadelphia Flower show and fell in love with it. Since they aren't hardy in our region, I bought it and decided I would just enjoy it for one season. I planted it in a sheltered location on the south side of the house and it has come through some of our worst winters ever in this region. This spring it is laden down with buds just beginning to open. I'll undoubtedly have pictures to share soon.
And I have two new products coming out this week. On Saturday, April Promise, an Annka kit that I created with Kakleidesigns will release and on Monday, Blue Poppy.

Photography by Clemens
My husband was up bright and early both mornings this weekend to catch the frost on the ground before it melted. I, on the other hand, was sitting at the kitchen table in my fuzzy old bathrobe and slippers watching him.
Dressed in heavy jacket, hat and scarf, he was kneeling on the ground to get these shots of ice crystals on weeds and scattered leaves. At one point, he hung the camera from the bottom of the tripod to get it closer to ground level. Wonderful patience, a new camera and lens and a life-time of photographic experience really paid off. I just love these photos and hope you will too.
Since I wasn't out there kneeling in the frost with Clemens I didn't have any recent photographs for my weekly Beyond Layers Homework in Kim Klassen's class. (Yes, we can use earlier photos but I just couldn't seem to find the right one. Our homework this week was to take a photo and using photoshop give it a "painterly" effect using adjustment layers and textures.
So it was off to the local arboretum with Clemens this morning to start shooting. In the end I chose a colorful floral shot. My aim was to give it an a painterly effect similar to those that I've seen on old cracked and crazed paintings that I've found in antique stores. Here's the results.

- I'm a scrapbook addict. I've been involved with digital scrapabooking since July 2009, when my daughter introduced me to her favorite hobby. When I'm not scrapbooking (hmm, when exactly is that?), I'm enjoying life with my family including my two daughters and two grandsons, my husband Clemens and my Cavalier Spaniel, Vinnie. My hobbies include photography, reading, biking, and hiking.
