Freebie Mini Kit
Here is a mini kit freebie that I created recently for the April Designer Challenge at Hummie's World (www.hummiesworld.com). I love the palette that Christine Smith chose for this challenge. I am definitely drawn to bright happy colors this spring and my garden and yard are cooperating. The azaleas are now in bloom along with the dogwoods and I am enjoying every minute of it.Here is the link:

New Kit by Circle of Life Scraps
Amanda at Circle of Life Scraps has just come out with a great new kit: Key to My Imagination. It's a large kit with a wonderful diversity of elements and papers, perfect for scrapping many types of layouts. I did a traditional layout and a fantasy one with this kit. Starting this Friday, it will be available at Digiscrapganza.com. And best of all it is on sale for 50% off through next Thursday, April 22nd. Check it out!

I just finished up the challenges at Creative Victorian Designs (www.creativevictorian.com) for the month of April with this layout. I had just purchased the kit Ma Passion by Marta and all of the elements and the background are from it. I'm always so excited to scrap with a new kit as soon as I get it.I love the quote for this month's challenge: Imagination Rules the World. I definitely believe that it does. If we cannot imagine something, we cannot create it and it cannot become a part of our world. Perhaps one of the problems in the world today is that we cannot truly imagine world peace, we cannot truly envision a world where are people are adequately clothed and fed and educated. Yes, we do give it lip service, but I believe that there is a huge gap between intellectually believing something and imaginatively believing it. When it enters the realm of the imagination, we feel it at the deepest levels, and therefore are on the first step to actually creating it.
So for today, I wish you the joy of imagination.

More Photos From the Attic

This is another photo I found in a box in the attic. I was so surprised to find it as I had never seen it before. A very lovely photo of my mother with my grandmother. They both look so young and lovely here. As my mother aged she began to look more and more like my grandmother, but already I can see the resemblance in this photo.
Credits: the background paper and elements are from the kit Vintage White by Lily.

Moving Day

Well, it's been a long wait for my new office at work to be finished, but it was more than worth waiting for. I moved in today and absolutely love it. Lots of space, lots of light and everything is shiny new. I'll be moving stuff and re-arranging for many days to come but right now I'm just enjoying it. I especially love all the sun and light of a southern facing office after the years that I spent on the north side of the building. My dog, Vinnie, who comes to work with me everyday is delighted with the new quarters as well. I put his motorcycle bed (a Christmas gift from my neighbor) against the wall behind my desk, a position very similar to the one it had in the old office. However the new office is much larger so he was further away from my chair. He promptly grabbed the handle of the motorcycle and pushed, pulled and barked at it until he had it positioned right behind my chair.
This is a layout I did of my grandson.

Tax Day

It was my day off today. A gorgeous, warm sunny day with temperatures in the high 70's. The flowers are in bloom and there are colors and blossoms everywhere. And the most amazing thing is that I just noticed that my camilla is in full bloom. I bought a tiny camilla bush at the Philadelphia Flower Show five years ago. I absolutely fell in love with its gorgeous red blooms. So even though I knew it couldn't make it in my growing region, I decided I would simply consider it an annual and enjoy it. I put it in the ground and it survived. Twice it set buds in late fall, but frost came before it could bloom. And still it held on and grew. And today, I walked over to that part of the yard and was amazed to find over two dozen blossoms and buds on it. Absolutely gorgeous!
I spent the day doing taxes but managed to do a layout for one of the challenges at AfterFiveDesigns (afterfivedesigns.com). It was a scraplift of a lovely design. Here is my take on it.
Credits: Background papers, ribbon, frame and color splats from Kristin Rice, KStudio, ComicHero. Red stars from Lily, Sweet, as is button and red flower. Butterfly from Catharine, Noel Chic, and red round button from Bisotine, Noel Chic.

Window frame, daisies, and basket of flowers from Numbumm, Kit Meadow. Pot of flowers from Catherine Designs, Spring Chic. Tag from HeArtistic, Solitary Flute. Flower spray from Lori Davison, Dragons End.
And the photo is mine. One of the many snow photos I shot this winter. This actually is a photo I took of the view from my front window, although I took it outdoors rather than through the window glass. I haven't conquered those tricky glass reflections in my photography yet. I was so inspired on the days we had major snow storms this winter to get up early and get out in the snow before the sun got too strong and started casting strong shadows and glare. I couldn't believe that I actually wanted to get out and tramp around in the snow at 7 am taking pictures, but I did.

Another fantasy layout. I just finished doing this one for the April fantasy challenge at Creative Victorian Design. (www.creativevictorian.com). I had so much fun playing with this one. Lori Davison's kits are always such an amazing source of resources for fantasy designs. Credits:
The chandelier is from Mystique, Winter Dreams; the wood background is from kit Tumbleweed by Wee Faerie; the floor is from Lori Davison, Drifting Snow; the stacked books are from kit Bookshelf by Zalinka, the doors, windows, furniture are from Lori Davison, Greymouse Manor as are the picture frames and the pictures in them. The path is from Dear Forest by Aurelie, the greenery is from Carena, In The Forest and the white flowers are from the kit, Princess of the Forest by BarbieMarie. The light at the top of the house is from Lori Davison, Flying Dreams.

This is a layout I did for a fantasy challenge at Creative Victorian Design. They have a wonderful variety of challenges there every month and last month they added a fantasy challenge to the many others that they offer. There are lovely gifts for entering each of the challenges (quick pages, borders, clusters that are absolutely gorgeous) and the challenges themselves are a lot of fun. So head on over to www.creativevictorian.com and join in the fun.
My March layout used dragons, fire and word art from Creative Victorian Designs, Dragon Ascendancy kit. The background paper, ink bottle and blank book are from Lori Davison's kit, Before the First Frost and the landscape scenes are from Morguefiles.com.
I'm working on my April fantasy layout right now and will be posting it here on my blog shortly.

Forgotten Photos Sitting in the Attic

I've been crawling under the eves in the attic searching through boxes of old photos. Many of the photos are ones I remember from years past. But I found a few I've never seen before. Some are labeled, some not. It's been an interesting adventure into family history.
I created this layout with some of the family photos that I found. The background paper , tree and floral elements are from the kit, All Things Grow With Love by Newlife Dreams Design. The antique frame is by Christina Renee from her Authentic Artistry Alphabet collection and the font is Buttons & Patches.
